I did a lot of hackathons. Ten wins, about $40k. The money was nice. The reps were better.

Every one taught the same lesson harder: work out what the thing actually is, then cut everything else until it can exist by Sunday morning. I got faster at deciding, and much faster at throwing away the parts I was attached to.

Different sports, same thing underneath: all four were already the best and kept working like they were not.
